PostSubject: Symptom or cause for concern   Mon Mar 09, 2015 3:25 am

Hello All,

I have a lady friend that has been living with iih for some time now, she is a very strong woman that very rarely complains about the condition. This strength is part of her problem she will sometimes complain of issues where she really should see her gp to get some feedback but as she works and is a mother she believes these are her priorities and so gp visits are few and far between.
Just today she pulled me aside and described a symptom to me that has never happened to her before and I was wondering if anyone else here had experienced this and if they could offer some feedback. She said she got a very sudden tightening behind her right eye as if a ball of rubber bands were stretching and then suddenly snap she said it feels as if there is alot of fluid there that she can feel in her throat and behind the eye, she lost vision in the one eye momentarily but it returned quickly but the feeling of fluid is still there.
I will obviously continue to urge her to see a gp but any feedback you guys can provide would be good. she does not have a stint nor does she get LP she had a very bad expierience with a LP during a back operation which they believe may have caused the IIH in the first place.

thank you

It could mean her pressure is elevated or be completely unrelated. If GP is too overwhelming for her, maybe refer her to whoever monitors her vision first. I know a lot of times we push through, but permanent vision loss is a real possibility if symptoms are ignored.

In the end it's her decision, so all you can do is continue to support and encourage her.
