Hi everyone,

Just diagnosed with iih last Wednesday and the NO prescribed 1g Diamox daily which resulted in skin rash all over my body and I had to stop it immediately. Have you guys seen anyone allergic to Diamox ? What alternative medicines are there ?

Thanks

hi, I'm so sorry about your diagnosis.  I'm sorry no one responded before now.  are you also allergic to Sulfa drugs, like Bactrim?  Diamox is in that class.  other meds you could try would be Topamax, or Lasix.  I did not tolerate meds, they made me too sedated which was my main ICP symptom anyway.  I ended up getting better with treatment of my sleep apnea, and jaw surgery.  my son gets relief from osteopathic manipulation as well.  if you have mainly papilledema you could do ONSF surgery to protect your eyes.  what are your symptoms of IIH?

I'm sorry for the late response! There is a Medication for IIH Treatment section in General Information, but here's a link for general medications..[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

There are other treatments if medications don't work for you, so check the site and let us know if you have any questions.
