Shunt v. fenestration of the optic

I will probably be taking lmy 40 yr old daughter to UAB in B-ham, AL to see Dr. Kline, a neuro-opthamalogist. Anyone seen him? Comments please. We need to consult with someone re should she have a shunt v. fenestration of the optic nerve. What's the sucess rate on both
of these, anyone know? We want to hear from those who have had both? Lora has had 8 lumbar punctures so far. She can't keep going thru this. We found out that the spinal headache is directly related to the size of the needle--anesthesia docs use very small needles and
the puncture is painless, whereas radiologists use larger needles which, of course, are faster--Lora has had them done by radiologists and has suffered greatly..but this time we asked for a smaller needle and got one! And her spinal headache was much less severe and she wa back to work sooner. We are now waiting for her neurologist to get all the lab reslults in. Your input is greatly appreciated. Pat
